Travel Vaccinations
We bear the costs for many vaccinations (possibly minus the co-payment for the vaccine) including vaccines required for private trips abroad, such as vaccination against hepatitis A and B or malaria prophylaxis. This is based on the recommendations of the Standing Committee on Vaccination of the Robert Koch Institut [Ständige Impfkommission] in connection with the travel recommendations of the Federal Foreign Office [Auswärtige Amt].
All TK insurees can have homeopathic treatment by well qualified office-based doctors throughout Germany. TK bears, among others, the costs for an extensive primary health record (approx. 60 minutes) to thoroughly analyse the causes of disease. Follow up health records and briefer homeopathic consultations may become necessary.
Alternative medicine
Doctors can prescribe alternative medicine on private or green prescriptions which are not subject to compulsory prescription but restricted for sale in pharmacies. TK reimburses up to 100 euros per insuree and year. This applies to medication from the following fields:
- homeopathy
- anthroposophy
- phytotherapy
Natural remedies for children under the age of 12 continue to be statutory health insurance benefits and are settled via the TK eHealth card.
Sports Medical Examination
TK grants subsidies to a doctor’s sports medical examination and consultation every two years which has to be done by a registered sports medicine specialist. 80 % of the invoiced amount will be reimbursed however limited to 60 Euros for the basic examination and 120 Euros at maximum for the extended examination (including basic examination).
